The Physics of the Open Tip
Standard thermocouples hide the sensing element inside a metal tube, which slows down the reading. This “Open Tip” sensor exposes the wires directly to the hot gas. This removes the thermal lag, allowing you to see exactly what the temperature is right now, not what it was three seconds ago. This speed is non-negotiable for tuning high-boost turbocharged engines where exhaust temperatures can spike destructively in milliseconds.
