The Flexible Core for Custom Wiring Architectures
For custom automotive electrical systems where a Power Distribution Module (PDM) or an existing switch panel is already in place, the Elite 2500 & 2500 T Basic Universal Wire-in Harness is the ideal solution. Unlike the “Premium” version, this “Basic” harness strips away the integrated fuse and relay box, providing a streamlined, lightweight loom that gives the installer absolute freedom over power management. This is the preferred choice for high-level motorsport builds where power distribution is centralized in a solid-state PDM (such as a Haltech PD16) or where the builder wishes to integrate the ECU wiring into a bespoke chassis harness without the bulk of a pre-molded fuse block.
Engineering Freedom and Component Integration
The “Basic” harness focuses purely on connectivity between the ECU and the engine. It features the proprietary Amphenol connectors required to interface with the Elite 2500 on one end, and flying leads on the other. This allows the tuner to route power and ground wires to their own specific protection systems. By omitting the on-board relays, this harness is significantly less bulky, making it easier to pass through tight firewalls or route through compact chassis tubes. Despite its “Basic” nomenclature, the wire quality remains top-tier, utilizing high-temperature, abrasion-resistant insulation and fully shielded twisted-pair wiring for critical crank, cam, and knock signals.
This harness is particularly advantageous for users performing engine swaps into vehicles that already have a robust EFI relay capability, or for race cars using a dedicated switch panel to control ignition and fuel pump circuits manually. It places the responsibility of circuit protection (fusing and relays) on the builder, allowing for a fully customized electrical setup.
Operational Benefits
Using the Basic harness reduces weight and complexity in systems that do not need redundant relays. It allows for a cleaner installation when paired with a PDM, as the ECU’s output pins can be wired directly to the PDM’s trigger inputs, rather than routing through an unnecessary attached fuse box. The 2.5-meter length provides ample reach for standard engine placement, allowing the ECU to be mounted safely inside the cabin.
Fitment and Application
This is a Universal wire-in product requiring custom termination.
- Intended Use: Installations using a PDM, existing fuse blocks, or custom switch panels.
- ECU Compatibility: Haltech Elite 2500 / 2500 T.
- Configuration: Flying lead (Unterminated engine side).
Important Note: This harness does not include a fuse box or relays. The installer must provide appropriate circuit protection for the ECU, Injectors, and Ignition coils to prevent fire hazards and equipment damage.
