The Deutsch DTP series is the big brother to the standard DT connector, designed for high-current applications. The Haltech DTP Female Pins are the socket terminals required for these connectors. Rated for up to 25 Amps, these pins are essential for circuits powering fuel pumps, large cooling fans, and main power feeds. Unlike the smaller DT pins, DTP pins are sized to accept larger gauge wire (12-14 AWG), ensuring that current is delivered without voltage drop causing heat buildup at the connection point.

Engineering: The Importance of Contact Area

These pins feature a larger contact surface area than standard pins, which is critical for handling 25A loads. They are made from a copper alloy with high-quality plating to prevent oxidation. The crimp barrel is designed for 12-14 AWG wire; using smaller wire will result in a weak crimp and high resistance. Proper installation requires a Deutsch-specific crimping tool to ensure the wire strands are cold-welded to the pin and the insulation is properly gripped for strain relief.
