Stillen is excited to release the cat-back exhaust system for the 2023-2024 Nissan Z. During the development of this exhaust system Stillen engineers went through multiple different exhaust configurations and prototypes determine what would provide the best performance, best flow, and best sound.

The Competition Series Cat-Back Exhaust for the Nissan Z is intended for the owner that wants to be heard. With no mufflers, this straight piped system is aggressive and allows the NISSAN VR30 twin turbo V6 engine to be experienced. Stillen’s R&D team decided to move forward with the competition series exhaust because a common character trait of twin turbo engines is that the turbos suppress the exhaust tone and many people do want a more aggressive exhaust sound. The competition series exhaust from Stillen offers all of the benefits of an engineered, tested, and performance designed exhaust system at a low cost with a more aggressive tone than a system featuring mufflers.

After months of exhaustive testing the team determined that the best design starts with a stainless steel flange precision tig welded to 2.5” tubes leading into a CNC bent and CNC machined X pipe. During the development the team tested a true dual exhaust system and determined that it was too loud and too “flat” sounding. Something very common with twin turbo V6 engines. However, in an effort to get the best performance possible we did not want to restrict the engine by going from dual 2.5” tubes to a single 3” mid-pipe. The perfect solution was an X pipe which offered a cross-sectional area of around 4”. This allowed the team to merge the left and right banks which improved the sound tremendously without restricting the exhaust flow. Additionally, it allowed the team to fit the largest possible collector through the narrow chassis tunnel in the center of the car.

From the X pipe the CNC mandrel bent 304 stainless steel tubes lead into a pair of precision tig welded high polished finish, mufflers. To design these mufflers the team at Stillen created new, proprietary, machinery to complete the assembly and welding process in-house. This equipment along with the manufacturing procedures developed exclusively for this muffler allows the team to precisely tig weld the polished stainless steel muffler bodies and end caps leaving behind a “stack of dimes” finish with a fantastic multi-color burn trail from the tig welding process.

To finish the exhaust system the customer has a choice of polished stainless, burnt stainless steel, or carbon fiber exhaust tips. Additionally the exhaust system is supported by a Stillen branded cross-brace supporting and accentuating the exhaust system. Exhaust:

Proof of purchase, MUST be presented to the service outlet from which you originally purchased the exhaust product, or any participating dealer, when making a claim for replacement. The original exhaust product must also be returned and exchanged for a new exhaust product of the same part number. SMSP acknowledges that parts may be discontinued. If the exhaust product has been discontinued, SMSP may not be able to offer a replacement option.

No other warranty, expressed or implied (including merchantability), applies to the exhaust product, nor is any person or the manufacturer authorized to assume any other warranty. The manufacturer does not assume any responsibility for any consequential damages occurred by the exhaust product, or inconvenience or interruption in any operation.

This warranty does not extend to cosmetic blemishes and/or finish deterioration. Stainless steel does require cleaning and maintenance to retain its finish. Failure to do so can result in surface corrosion which is not covered by warranty.

SMSP does not warranty other companies and/or manufacturers product and/or work. If the installer of the product fails to follow SMSP instructions or causes damage to the vehicle during the installation of this product this must be resolved between the customer and the shop performing the work.

Intakes:

This warranty does not apply to any air intake product which has been installed on any commercial or racing vehicle or which has been improperly installed, altered, or subjected to misuse or damage from accidents. Also, cost of labor and any additional parts required to complete installation of a replacement product are not covered by this warranty.

SMSP Brake Rotors are finished with a corrosion resistant plating material. This material is removed by the friction between the rotor and pad. During the time the plating is being removed the customer may feel and/or hear â€œunusualâ€ noises. In most cases this is the plating material being removed and is to be considered normal. We can not give a timeline as to how long this will take to remove as there are many variables including but not limited to; driving style, driving type (highway vs. city), regularity of vehicle use, etc. If the unusual characteristics persist past the point the plating has been removed please consult SMSP for further guidance.

Warranty Addendums:

Damages caused by improper use, installation, modifications and/or collisions will be considered user-error and will NOT be covered under warranty.
User assumes all risks and costs associated with the use of SMSP products.
Products purchased from un-authorized dealers will not be covered under warranty.
Warranties only cover the initial purchaser and will not transfer to second hand users.
