The TCA4 Quad Channel Thermocouple Amplifier (CAN ID – Box A) is the primary building block for adding comprehensive temperature monitoring to your engine management system. Designed to interface directly with Type K thermocouples, this unit conditions and digitizes signals from critical heat sources—such as exhaust runners, turbochargers, or fluids—and broadcasts them over the CAN bus network. This ensures that your data logger or ECU receives precise, noise-free temperature data, essential for tuning high-performance engines and implementing closed-loop safety protocols.

Precision Engineering and CAN Bus Architecture

The TCA4 uses advanced Cold Junction Compensation (CJC) to maintain accuracy regardless of the ambient temperature in the engine bay. By converting the analog thermocouple voltage into a digital CAN message immediately, the system eliminates the voltage drops and electromagnetic interference that plague traditional long-wire analog setups. The “Box A” designation identifies this unit as the primary or base device on the network. It is the default choice for 4-cylinder applications or the first bank of V8 applications.

Compatibility is at the core of the design. The unit features a DTM-4 CAN connection that plugs directly into Haltech Elite and Nexus Series harnesses. It also provides 0-5V analog outputs for legacy compatibility with older data loggers or dyno systems that do not support CAN integration.
