Engineering for Multiplex and i-VTEC
Honda’s electrical architecture in the DC5 era utilizes a multiplex communication system for the dashboard. This adaptor harness is designed to manage the engine functions flawlessly, but it is important to note the limitations regarding the dashboard. The harness supports the engine’s critical sensors including the crank/cam position sensors required for i-VTEC operation. However, due to the multiplex system, the factory coolant temperature gauge, battery light, and A/C request signal are not supported through this harness alone. Tuners typically utilize a Haltech IC-7 dash or aftermarket gauges to monitor these parameters. If the factory Intake Runner Control (IMRC) is retained, an Elite 1500 is required to control it; the Elite 1000 does not support this output.
